Bunkering Vessels

Fouling Control and Corrosion Protection for Bunkering Vessels

Conventionally, fuel bunkering was carried out in port, either pipe to ship (PTS) or truck to ship (TTS). However, with modern techniques and heavy traffic in ports, ship-to-ship bunkering at sea is now predominant.

Bunkering vessels generally operate at low speed with frequent static periods. As many major bunkering ports are in warm coastal environments, this leads to a severe fouling challenge. International® fouling control coatings are engineered to keep hulls clean even in the highest‑fouling conditions, supporting fuel efficiency and reducing CO₂ emissions.

Bunkering vessels operate in tough operational and environmental conditions which can cause impact and abrasion damage leading to corrosion and poor aesthetic appearance. Our range of anti-corrosive primers and cosmetic finishes deliver long-term asset protection with minimised requirement for maintenance.
