The underwater hull of a fishing vessel is exposed to severe fouling challenges while in operation. To control operational costs and reduce fuel consumption, they should be kept free from marine organisms by applying an effective fouling control coating system. Above water, the superstructure, deck and topsides of the vessel are directly exposed to the harsh impact of constant sea spray and UV exposure from the sun. These factors can accelerate corrosion, wear and discoloration. An exposed and unmaintained fishing deck and working deck also present potential safety challenges for the crew of the vessel.
