IMO PSPC for Water Ballast Tanks
IMO MSC.215 (82) Performance Standard for Protective Coatings for water ballast tanks is a standard designed to achieve a target coating lifetime of 15 years in dedicated seawater ballast tanks and double side-skin spaces of bulk carriers.
Adopted on 8th December 2008, the IMO PSPC for water ballast tanks is applicable to all newbuildings > 500GT where:
- The building contract was placed on or after 1st July 2008
- The keel was laid on or after 1st January 2009
- The delivery is on or after 1st July 2012
For Common Structural Rules vessels (Tankers and Bulkers) the adoption of the standard is now mandatory.
First to be Awarded Type Approval Certificate
We are proud to have been awarded the first Lloyds Register IMO PSPC type approval certificate for Intershield®300 and be the first paint company to have proven 15 years in service performance on the m.v Eleranta where a Lloyds Register surveyor confirmed the double bottom tank coatings of the vessel to be in "good" condition.
